                                    ESOTERIC YOGA

As presented from the Teachings of Serge Benhayon
The Yoga of Stillness

The foundations of Yoga were set 2,365 years ago from the teaching of Patanjali with the introduction of Raja Yoga; we have evolved since these teachings. In this new era, Yoga has returned to the original purpose for the blessing of all humanity, thanks to the clear impress now presented by Serge Benhayon with Esoteric Yoga.

Before being introduced to Esoteric Yoga, I never had any interest in yoga – as far as I was concerned the concepts and beliefs held around yoga just did not feel right. Yoga had lost its way from the original impress from Patanjali; somehow I just felt it was not true.

Along came the presentation of Esoteric Yoga and I had to change my tune about true yoga. My introduction to Esoteric Yoga was when I attended a class presented by Marcia Owen and Vicki Geary under the tutelage of Serge Benhayon. The first concept that was clarified for me was the principle that Yoga means union and that this union was with soul, our God aspect or divine aspect, and that we connect through stillness. So Esoteric Yoga is still about the body without all the motion, postures or stretching, which are all just a distraction that takes away the stillness.

Once reintroduced to my soul, I was taken on an exploratory journey through my body parts and not by moving them, but by feeling them in their stillness. We started with our feet and progressed up the legs to the hips, back and so on, to the rest of the body, the whole time being with or focused on that particular body part. This focus brought what I now know as conscious presence, to that area, by feeling the area at the same time as thinking about it, without the mind doing its usual trip down memory lane.

The simple application of bringing presence to my body as presented by Esoteric Yoga, was life changing. Not only did it reintroduce me to my soul, it also showed me how to stay connected to my most divine aspect. Once I felt reconnected through Esoteric Yoga, there was an undeniable truth of a deep stillness from with-in – this was like returning home. To stay connected to this stillness then becomes a choice that I continually make to the best of my ability.

Esoteric yoga becomes a way of life, so once again I walk and talk that union, which is my true connection to God.

Esoteric Yoga is a daily life practice and does not have to done through any continuous routine or discipline that needs to be practiced every day in the formal sense. Once connected to our inner most – the esoteric or divine aspect – it is our Livingness with our soul, which keeps us in union. Your body will tell you when you need to practice Esoteric Yoga to re-connect.

It is important to be in conscious presence as you prepare your area and to do this with a purpose of self-nurturing, so the feeling of a nurturing energy is felt from the start. When beginning an Esoteric Yoga session, the first thing that happens before you sit or lay down is the loving preparation of the seat, mat or bed you are to lay on. Once you are sitting or laying down, your clothes and blankets also need to be lovingly arranged so that the body is supported with loving imprints. Even closing your eyes needs to be a focus, as we close our eyes to be with ourselves and not just to shut out the world.

Our breath then becomes our focus, to breath as gently as possible, just by feeling the breath entering your nostrils at the tip of the nose. Breath is the first thing to bring conscious presence at the start of an Esoteric Yoga session.

After the session it is for us to continue to feel this loving connection or union with
our soul as we go about our day. Holding the stillness while moving about has been challenging for me, but I continually remind myself to be with whatever I am doing while I am doing it and to it in conscious presence.
